Creating a Food Safety Culture

Food Safety professionals from around the world will ignite conversations on the tools, strategies, and behavior-based science needed to help create a robust food safety culture within your workplace. This is an exceptional opportunity that you will not want to miss!
We welcome food safety professionals from industry, regulatory, academia, and military. Titles of individuals that have attended the program include VP of Global QA operations, Director of FSQA, Food Safety Quality Assurance Manager, VP of Quality Assurance and Food Safety, Food Safety Compliance Specialist, Corporate Food Safety Group Leader, and Food Safety Coordinator—to name a few! Some executives that attend are also students pursuing their Michigan State University (MSU) Masters in Food Safety degree.
Together, as food safety professionals, you will interact and learn from Frank Yiannas, Food Safety Expert and MSU Adjunct Faculty member. The program will also consist of a guest lecture by Bill Marler, JD, Managing Partner, Marler Clark LLP PS.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION:
There are three registration types available, which are determined by your employment status, or if you are a student in the MSU Online Food Safety Program.
Who: Individuals that work for industry
Cost: $3,300
Registrations Covers:
- Most meals will be covered from the evening of June 10th to the evening of June 12th. There will be a continental style breakfast offered on the 11th and 12th at the conference location.
- Hotel accommodations are covered for the nights of June 10, 11 and 12. If you need an additional night, please contact Esther Haviland after your registration is completed.
- Transportation around campus is only needed on Wednesday, June 11th and Thursday, June 12th, and is covered entirely for those days.
- You will receive copies of Frank Yiannas’ books Food Safety Culture: Creating a Behavior-Based Food Safety Management System and Food Safety = Behavior: 30 Prove Techniques to Enhance Employee Compliance
Cancellation Policy:
If a cancellation occurs on or before May 23rd, a $400 fee will be deducted from the registration cost, and the remaining amount will be refunded to your original payment method.
Cancellations occurring after May 23rd, including no-shows, will result in the forfeiture of the entire registration cost, and no reimbursement will be issued.
Please Note:
Registration does NOT cover travel to and from East Lansing, MI (MSU Campus). You will be responsible for those expenses.

Cost: $2,300

Who: Current students of the Online Food Safety Program or Lifelong Learners with MSU who wish to enroll in the full summer semester course VM 826 to receive graduate credit
Cost: Summer 2025 Tuition $991/hour x 3 credit hours ($2,973) + MSU Reg Fees ($50) + On Campus Course Reg Cost ($1,600) = ~$4,623 plus travel to and from East Lansing. (If you plan on taking this course as a lifelong student please contact Heather Ricks)
On Campus Schedule for Students:
Students will be asked to arrive earlier than their Executive counterparts that will be attending this event. Students will start the week on Tuesday, June 10th at 11am, with a Student Workshop and tour of campus. They will meet with the course instructors, academic advisors, and the OFS team. Students will have an opportunity to ask questions and network with their fellow students.
On Campus Registrations Cost ($1,600) Covers:
- Most meals will be covered from the evening of June 10th to the evening of June 12th. There will be a continental style breakfast offered on the 11th and 12th at the conference location.
- Hotel accommodations are covered for the nights of June 9, 10, 11 and 12. The event for students starts at 11am on Tuesday, June 10th. If you are local (or able to get to campus on the 10th before 11am) and do not need a room for the night of the 9th please contact Esther Haviland.
- Transportation around campus is only needed on Wednesday, June 11th and Thursday, June 12th, and is covered entirely for those days.

VM826 Course Info:
In this course student will study with Frank Yiannas, both on-campus and online in this hybrid course. The online course starts Monday, June 2nd, a week before the on campus portion. For assistance in enrolling in VM 826, please contact Heather Ricks.

I am interested in enrolling in the semester long course with Frank Yiannas. When can I register?
If you are a current MSU OFS student or want to pursue Lifelong education at MSU, summer enrollment for VM 826 will open in November 2024. Please contact Heather Ricks for help.
I am not a MSU student but I would like to take the full semester course for credit. Where do I register?
You must first apply to the MSU Lifelong education program. Once you have been accepted, you will need to contact Heather Ricks to request course permission.
Where does this event take place?
This event will take place in East Lansing, MI and on the Michigan State University campus. Detailed information will be sent to those who register on Eventbrite.
Is this course going to be offered again?
This course will be offered in Summer 2025, and will hopefully be offered again but it is not guaranteed.
